A small ding to the lower edge of the bonnet can be seen. All trims sections are intact as are the original Sport badges and decals, along with the correct twin coachline on the bonnet and at high and low level to the sides.

The Cadiz Striped Fabric seats in Brown with blue trim code OE are spotlessly clean with no sagging, splits or tears and only very faint wear to some facings visible upon close scrutiny.

A lot of the rubber seals were missing. The bonnet release cable did not work and has been replaced. A missing petrol tank bolt has been replaced. The interior carpet was in such a poor state we have thrown it away and it has been replaced. Clips for the front grill were missing and have been replaced.

Welding to the nearside has been completed. The car has been previously resprayed white in South Africa during It looks great in the supplied images but close up there are some scratches and although no apparent rust on any external panels, filler has been used. It is fitted with a running a two litre injection Pinto EFI engine from a Ford Sierra Sapphire, 5 speed gearbox and a Spitronics Pluto 2 ECU engine management system and complete new wiring throughout but presently running very rich being tuned for the South African climate and will require re tuning.

An Escort MK 2 four door GL donor car was used for missing parts including all seats which have been upholstered in black vinyl. The roof lining has been replaced. The rest of the interior is ok, but the door cards have been replaced with naff made up black plastic panels and there is a crack to the clear plastic instrument panel display. The wheel arches have been professionally flared to accommodate the larger wheels. South African copy receipts indicates the engine was rebuilt in including skimming, porting and flowing of head, skimmed block and re-bored, polished crankshaft and other work including lowered front and rear suspension and bias brake peddle box.

The car has a South African long range fuel tank and high pressure heavy duty fuel pump in the boot for the fuel injection system. It is also fitted with brand new bespoke big bore South African exhaust system and sounds awesome.

The poorly fitted South African pneumatic handbrake has been replaced with a standard cable system in preparation for the UK MOT and the rear anti roll bar bushes have been replaced with fast road upgraded replacements. It was my intention to fully restore this rally chassis Ford Escort to a high standard fast road car replica, however on exploration of a hole inside the front offside floor pan near the front wheel arch, investigation has revealed a bigger hole and evidence of a previous repair involving mesh and filler.

There are signs of accident damage to the front and offside. The front wings, front end and bonnet do not marry up correctly and the bonnet is difficult to lock. The car does however otherwise appear to be rust free. This should be a great car for someone who is not looking to restore to my high standards.

Money has been spend getting the car running and towards identified MOT requirements except welding and seatbelt upgrades, but I am not willing to take the risk removing the wing and then finding further area requiring attention to the standard of restoration I personally require. Price is set to cover my costs only including importation and MOT preparation.
