    Shradh is performed in memory of the departed parent, offering food and cloth to Brahmins. Shraddha is conducted annually on the Hindu date of departure or death. What is Pind Daan? To bring salvation to departed souls, Pind-daan is a mandatory thing for all Hindus and Hinduism followers. It is believed that no work can be successfully performed without the blessing of ancestors and doing of Pind Daan brings the blessings of the forefathers.

    By performing the rituals as per ancient texts and paying homage to the deceased ancestors, the dead soul attains mokhsa salvation. What is carried out in Shraddha Karya? Shraddh Karya is performed to offer food and water to the Pitrus every year on the day of death. When we offer food to the cow, the brahmins, the sacred fire, the river or sea and the crow, it is believed to reach the Pitrus through the five elements.

    What should be done on the day of Shraddh? Performing Shraddh in Teertha kshetras are said to enhance the results manifold.

    Can Shraddh be performed in lieu of my presence? A Pandit or Purohit can perform the Shraddh in lieu due to conditions of bad health or other inability. If the Karta or Kartru is unable to perform Shraddha Karya for various reasons like health, medical conditions or travel factors, we have the facilities for getting performed in Teertha Kshetras.     I am not talking about performing Srardha in Benares , Gaya. I am talking about performing Srardha in your Home or in a common place. The best option is to perform Srardha at Home, it brings prosperity and Sreyas.

    But now people do not prefer to conduct this at Home. Sastras declare that all auspicious and inauspicious functions,anything is good or bad, marriage, death, Srardha are to be performed only at Home. However, choice are available at various Mutts Gnana vapis. On careful evaluation, I am posting some information on this. Before that let me clear some FAQs on Srardham. At what time should Sradham is to be performed.

    After Srardha should be performed on an empty stomach. Food has to be taken only after the Sastris take food. Wife of the Karta one who performs the Srardham must also follow the diet.
